March...not a good month
Think_, Apr 01 2011
I wasn't able to put in much volume this month, but what I did get to put in I'm relatively happy with. My graph is pretty much the opposite of every other one I've seen, my non-showdown winnings are the only thing keeping me out of the red.
I don't want to whine or anything, but most of my losing showdown hands are getting it all-in preflop with the best hand and villain hitting their two outers or runner-runner to flush/straights. I know this is all part of the game so I'm just trying to keep my head up and not letting it tilt me. The hands I'm not getting it all-in pre are winning so I think that's a plus since I am getting my money in with the odds in my favor.

Goals for April:
Poker:
- Put in some more volume (this may not be too much more since I'm extremely busy from like 9am - 11pm most days with school and work)
- Get to 5NL (I think I should be able to do this as I'm not too far away now, and I think that another 4k+ hands per month should be able to get me to that goal)
- Figure out more features of Free Poker DB (can't afford PT3 or HEM right now, and its the best I can do)
Personal:
- Finish out my undergrad career strong (This is going to be my toughest month of college by far, so just trying to buckle down and remembering whats more important)
- Hit the gym a little more (been only managing one/two days a week if I'm lucky)
- Get some more interviews (the 3ish I had this month went well, but still need to keep my options open)
Good luck to everyone, both in poker and in real life,

From Humble Beginnings

Hey all, this will be my introduction to the LiquidPoker community. I have been a lurker on here for quite some time, and have been a very irregular poker player.
The start of my poker "career" came in 2007, when a kid who lived on the same floor at my dorm transferred me $10. Thinking I was a hotshot, I immediately sat down and tried to out think everyone and never gave anyone credit. I soon found myself down to ~$4-5 in my account. So then I decided that I would start reading over the articles here since I had known of the site from my time as a TL lurker.
After doing all the reading, and trying to use the knowledge I gained, I quickly became a winner at 2nl. With about $60 in my account, and a long, long night of drinking under my belt, I sat down at a 50nl table and quickly donked off a BI. Since I couldn't reload, I quit and upset at myself for my lack of control I took a break from poker. With a year break due to school and work, I took another shot at 2nl. I turned my $10 into $50 again within a month of sporadic play, but school and work took over and I had to stop.
Now, I am back and attempting to try and finally conquer 2nl and move up through the ranks. I know my play won't be as constant as I would like, but I do have my mind made up that now is the time that I want to play some poker, so I decided to start up my blog and try and post to get better, even though I know I've missed the peak years.
So here is my graph from the past week:

Even though it's ugly and I've played poorly, I'm still glad that I'm making a little bit of money.
